Zack Phillips wrote this one, Jason Guerrero shot it and I directed, edited and did the effects. I was excited to do this one because I haven’t had many chances to do a video that really relied on the actor’s performance, and I think Terry Withers did a great job as the film critic.

A message to the 5 people who read this site regularly.

Over the past three months, you may have noticed far fewer posts. This is because the UCB theater formed Beta teams, which are tasked with making weekly videos for their website, and I am a director on the team The Brig.

Believe it or not, one video a week is a lot to accomplish in your free time (even with a team of 6 other talented writers, directors, editors and producers), so I have less time to write here.

Here’s our last video. Mackenzie Condon wrote it and Matt Mayer directed (along with making the song and doing the special effects). Beware, it’s veeeery weird.

Naughty MacBook Pro Unboxing

The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater recently put together Beta teams to make videos for their UCB Comedy website. I tell you this because I am on one of the teams. Our name is The Brig (we’re on Twitter @TheBrigComedy), and we just uploaded our first video.

I wrote it. Matt Mayer (voice in my iPhone parody and actor in College Regrets and cinematographer of 2010 Novelty Glasses) directed, Mackenzie Condon produced, Nate Russell shot and edited it and Mike Costabile did the music.

Working in a group is a lot of fun. Having 7 other comedy people look at your writing and give feedback really helps to improve scripts. Some of my favorite lines are punch-ups that Jon Gutierrez added.

It also really helps having great performers like Thomas Middleditch and Andrée Vermeulen be in the video and add some improvised lines.

Citizen Kane Fanboys

Here’s a sketch I wrote that was performed at the UCB theater a few weeks ago. There weren’t many rehearsals, but I think it came out okay all things considered.

Also, due to the camera placement’s, it’s hard to make out what the last person is wearing (which is kind of important) so if you’re interested, you can see it here.
